How it works
Step 1
Identify
Opener brand and year — determines pairing method (dip-switch, learn-button, rolling-code).
Step 2
Wipe
Clear existing codes for security, especially after move-in or lost remote.
Step 3
Pair
Remote, keypad, car, app — paired and tested for range.
Step 4
Confirm
Full open/close cycle from each device before sign-off.
Why programming is more than 'pressing learn'
Modern openers use rolling-code security — a fresh 12-bit code every cycle so the remote can't be cloned. Pairing the wrong way (or pairing too many devices) can corrupt the receiver's memory. We wipe and re-pair cleanly so every device works and nothing unauthorized still has access.
Security after a move or lost remote
If you just bought the house or lost a remote, the smart move is a full memory wipe and fresh re-pair — not just adding a new remote alongside the old ones. Takes 20 minutes and locks out anyone who had access before.
Frequently asked questions
I just moved in — can you re-program everything for security?+
Yes — and you should. We wipe the opener's memory, re-pair only your remotes and keypad, and reset the keypad code. Old remotes (or anyone who had access) stop working immediately.
My new car's HomeLink won't pair — why?+
Most rolling-code openers from 2011+ need the opener's 'learn' button pressed during the pairing sequence. Some 2018+ Chevy/Ford models also need a HomeLink range extender. We handle both.
How do I add MyQ Wi-Fi to my opener?+
Most LiftMaster / Chamberlain heads built since 2014 have MyQ built-in — it's a Wi-Fi setup, not a hardware install. Older heads need an add-on MyQ hub. We do both setups on-site.
Can you program a universal remote?+
Yes. Genie Aladdin, LiftMaster Master Pro, and most Chamberlain universal remotes — we pair them to any compatible opener.
How long does programming take?+
Most calls are 20–30 minutes for a remote or keypad. App / Wi-Fi setups (MyQ / Aladdin Connect) are 30–45 minutes including the home Wi-Fi handshake.
